How it Works

how it works.

This is the basic process for turning your designs into websites.

  1. You provide us with your Photoshop or Illustrator Design + More

This is the part where you hand over your design to us. We have a server space where you can upload your site files using any FTP client. We can help you with this process if you've never done it before, or you can mail it to us on a DVD or CD.

Our preferred file format is always a layered Photoshop file or a .psd. This allows us to chop up the file in a very fast manner. We can work with Illustrator files (.ai), Photoshop Document Files (.pdf), or even image files such as .jpg, .gif, or .png.

Please note that the usage of any file that is not a layered Photoshop or Illustrator file will require much more time and thus will be more expensive.

  2. We ask you some questions about the site + More

Here we will ask you some basic questions about your design. For example we might want to know what color a certain link will be when it's hovered. We may want to know how many pages you'll be creating, or if you want to use any jQuery or PHP technology on your site.

  3. We create a pricing quote and timeline for the work to be completed + More

We will take the information that you have given us on our pricing form and create a rough estimate for the cost of the work to be completed. At this point we require a 50% deposit before we begin production on the site.

  4. We build the XHTML and CSS for your homepage + More

We build out everything for 1 page of your design and make it fully functional.

  5. You approve the layout and styles + More

Here we'll send you a link to a test site that is password protected. You'll login and make sure that everything is to your liking with the main build of the site. This isn't a place for minor text changes, we are looking at the layout and making sure that you see where we are heading with the site.

  6. We complete the rest of the site + More

Once approved we will complete production of the remaining pages in the testing environment.

  7. You give the Final Approval + More

Again we will ask for your approval of the website that is still being served on our test environment.

  8. We launch the site + More

With your final word we'll launch the site and we're all set. Here we collect the remaining balance due and your new website will be sparkling and active.

It's that simple. Files > Design > Live Website.

what are XHTML and CSS?

XHTML is defined as "The Extensible Hypertext Markup Language, or XHTML". It is basically a more complex version of HTML but it conforms to the XML syntax. More simply it's code that a browser can read to display your text and your pictures.

CSS is defined as "a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation (that is, the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language. More simply, this is the part that actually makes a website look and feel like a website instead of a photoshop file. You may be asking, can't you just do this with HTML. The answer to that is yes, it definitely could be done, but CSS allows for a whole lot more control over your website, and allows for easier changes should anything need updating after the site is launched.
